Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using CoreLock ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Software.

2. Description of Service

CoreLock is a desktop application that runs security checks on your computer, explains the results, and offers fixes, with optional AI explanations. The Software runs on your device and connects to cloud services for sign-in, AI explanations, Ask CoreLock, file reputation checks, and syncing, when you use those features.

3. Subscription Plans

CoreLock offers the following plans:

• Free — Limited features, unlimited scans, 3 AI scan reviews per day when signed in, no payment required
• Pro ($9.99/month, $50/year or $200 one-time) — Deep file scans, AI scan reviews without the daily limit, optional sync of scan scores, issue counts, fix history and settings, priority email support, on up to 5 Macs
• Business ($29/month with 3 seats included, then $7/month per additional seat) — Everything in Pro for the members of a team the owner sets up in the CoreLock app (Account, at the bottom of the sidebar, or Settings › Account)

Prices are in USD. Prices for new purchases may change with 30 days' notice. A subscription renews at the plan price it started on; if you used a promo code, its discount ends when the code says it does. Subscriptions are billed through Stripe and auto-renew unless canceled. Additional plans may be introduced in the future.

Lifetime license

The Lifetime license is a one-time payment of $200. It gives a single user Pro on up to 5 Macs, with every future version of CoreLock for macOS, including major upgrades, and AI analysis and AI chat with the same daily limits as Pro. Like every CoreLock license, it is non-transferable (section 10).

If you have a Pro monthly or yearly subscription when the Lifetime license is added to your account, whether you buy it or restore it, we cancel that subscription at once and automatically refund the unused part of what you paid for its current billing period to the payment method that paid for it. Nothing is refunded if you paid nothing for that period (for example a $0 or complimentary plan, a trial, or an unpaid period) or if the refund would be under 50 cents; the subscription is still cancelled. A Business subscription is not cancelled. If the Lifetime license is later refunded or reversed, a subscription cancelled this way is not restarted. A subscription that CoreLock cannot match to your account is not cancelled automatically; cancel it in the CoreLock app (Account, Manage Subscription).

4. Cancellation & Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the app or your Stripe billing portal. Upon cancellation, you retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period. No prorated refunds are provided for partial billing periods, except when you move to the Lifetime license: then the unused paid part of your subscription's current period is refunded automatically (section 3, Lifetime license).

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans. If you are not satisfied with CoreLock, you may request a full refund within 30 days of your initial purchase by contacting info@corelock.net.

5. Permitted Use

You agree to use CoreLock only for its intended purpose: scanning and protecting your own computer(s). You may not:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software
• Use the Software to scan systems you do not own or have authorization to scan
• Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the Software
• Use the Software for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to circumvent subscription or usage limits

6. Disclaimers

CoreLock is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Software will detect all security threats, prevent all data breaches, or resolve all system issues. CoreLock is a supplementary security tool and should not be your only line of defense.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CoreLock and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of the Software.

8. AI Features

CoreLock uses AI models to analyze system data and provide recommendations. AI-generated analysis is provided for informational purposes and may not always be accurate. You should verify critical security decisions independently. AI chat conversations are processed by third-party AI providers; the Privacy Policy lists which providers and what is sent.

9. Auto-Fix & Remediation

CoreLock's fix and clean-up features perform predefined system actions (deleting temp files, moving caches to the Trash, quitting processes, quarantining files, etc.). Clean-up after a scan runs automatically only if you turn it on. Quitting a process and quarantining a file require your confirmation. By using auto-fix, you acknowledge that system modifications may have unintended effects. CoreLock is not liable for any damages resulting from remediation actions you approve.

10. Intellectual Property

CoreLock, its logo, design, and code are the intellectual property of CoreLock. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Software for personal or business purposes in accordance with your subscription plan.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Age Requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use CoreLock. If you are between 13 and 18 years old, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. By using CoreLock, you represent that you meet these age requirements.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Software shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered by JAMS in accordance with its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, conducted in California. You may opt out of arbitration by sending written notice to legal@corelock.net within 30 days of first using the Software.
